Ambulances were called, but they were delayed by the shooting. The driver of the first ambulance to arrive was reportedly shot to death, as was a Palestinian driver of a jeep. The boy and his father were eventually transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Talal Abu Rahma telephoned the hospital, where he was told that they had received three bodies - that of a jeep driver, an ambulance driver and a child, who was initially named Rami Al-Durrah.
